Reoperation after previous antireflux surgery is required in 3.6-16.4% of patients A careful history and thorough objective studies are critical to optimal outcome. Identification of the patient’s primary symptom is essential to successful reoperation. Surgical approach must be tailored to the individual patient. Reasons for failure of the original repair must be identified and corrected. Results of reoperation for GERD are good but inferior to those of primary surgery.
